About

Putting Families First is seeking volunteer families or individuals who are willing to do 4 visits each year between September and May with a team of 4 UF graduate health professional students. The visits can be in person of by Zoom and last about an hour. The purpose of the program is to have students interacting and engaging with people in a community or home setting so that they can begin to learn how to take a patient centered approach to care. The student teams are encouraged to talk to the volunteers and learn about their health care experiences, interests, and goals. The student teams develop a project that is based on the volunteer's health interests and goals. Projects vary, but often include helping people connect with community resources, gain understanding about a health condition or treatment, or assist with making healthy lifestyle changes.
